About Me

Ever since I first learned what a word is, I've been obsessed with them. My childhood revolved around reading, writing, singing and speaking words of all kinds - much to the delight of everyone around me.

My first 'published' work was a newspaper I created, containing made up news articles about invading aliens, interactive personality quizzes and interviews with my classmates.

From then, I was hooked, and wrote a full-length novel about a pop-star goldfish called Peter while I was still in Primary School.

I branched out to explore Poetry in Secondary School as a way to process the trials and tribulations of teenage life, as well an untimely bereavement. Poetry was, and still is, an invaluable coping mechanism for me, as well as a beautiful way to capture the human experience.

Nowadays, I have the privilged job of being a Teacher of English, spending my days helping young people to develop the same love for words, books and poetry as I gained at their age.

Even when I'm not in the classroom, I can't be stopped from wielding my words. I am enthusiastically embedded in Brighton's spoken word scene, and regularly perform at some of the fantastic open mic nights, slam events and competitions available. I write poetry, flash fiction and am working on novel writing - without the singing sea-creatures this time!

When I'm not working or writing, you will probably find me enjoying an elaborate herbal tea from one of my teapots, accidentally killing my houseplants or thinking about dogs. I also do musical theatre.
